Game 2 Progress

I am having trouble loading the image of my second level and end screen.  But all of my drawing and stuff are done, I just have to put everything together with actionscript.  I have started doing this, but I am having  a lot of trouble, surprise surprise.  I am hoping that if i play around with it enough, then I will be able to figure it out.  Also, I tried looking at the class example as reference, but it shows errors when I try to play it, so I dont really know what to do.  Hopefully I will have everything worked out for tomorrows critique.

Project 2

I am really enjoying this project so far! Today in class, I developed my idea and started with my first level.  I have an underwater theme, which falls similar to Sean's game he made for the class.  But with my own added spark to it. haha. here is my jpg of my first level.  i have drawn all of the characters but i have not decided who i want to be the protagonist.  

My Class Status

So, for some reason, I feel like no matter how hard I work, I am falling behind in this class.  Maybe its because I am having a lot of trouble working out the kinks in my project 1.  This is making me really frustrated because we already have another project due next week.  I am majorly stressing about this.  The problems that I am having with my first game are this:

1. I can't get the Loading screen to pop up first before the instructions screen

2. I can't  get my main character to come back down from jumping too high

3. I lost my version with the end screen and I still have to get that back on there

4. I can't figure out how to make there be only points for the celebs they hit not just every time they shoot

anyway, i bet im making myself sound like more of a failure listing all of the things that i dont know how to do.  anyway, just have to keep on trucking.

The Closing of Wafaa

I do not have that much of an opinion about the closing of the wafaa.  I believe that freedom of speech and art is extremely important, but on the other hand, a gallery should have the right to display whatever art pieces that it chooses.  To me, however, i feel like the attention that it is getting because they closed the gallery is more important than the actual gallery.  By closing it, it is bringing national attention to the problem, and more people are getting driven and involved.  More people will probably be seeing this piece because of its termination, than if it were to just be displayed in the gallery.

Hoops and Yoyo

Today in our 3D animation class, a rep from Hallmark came to talk to us.  She showed us their e-cards and talked about how they are getting more and more popular.  Since she showed us these cards, I have become obsessed.  They are all 2D animations (made on flash I think).  I think that this is definitely something I could do, I am so intrigued.  I know this is a gaming class, but I think that Hoops and Yoyo could definitely be considered okay to talk about in this blog.  Some of them are interactive..... ;)
